The rapid adoption of AI is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape, introducing new risks that many organizations are struggling to address—particularly from ‘Shadow AI.’

RAD Security focuses on emerging threats in AI security, such as privilege escalation, data exfiltration, and unauthorized access within AI workloads, using its discovery and remediation tools. Initially specializing in Kubernetes security, the company expanded into cloud detection and response (CDR), leveraging behavioral analysis similar to CrowdStrike’s Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) strategy. Today, RAD Security is helping organizations detect and mitigate threats in AI-driven workloads.

The company recently secured $14 million in Series A funding to scale its sales and marketing. In this episode, Brooke Motta, Co-Founder & CEO of RAD Security, discusses how her company is addressing AI-related security challenges, the importance of cloud detection and response, and the growing impact of Shadow AI on today’s threat landscape.

Emerging AI Security Threats

AI-driven infrastructure introduces unique security risks, including:

  • Privilege Escalation: Attackers gaining unauthorized access to AI workloads.
  • Data Exfiltration: Sensitive data being extracted from AI environments, with notable incidents involving data leaks to foreign entities.
  • Risky Identities: Unauthorized users accessing AI tools inappropriately.
  • Shadow AI: Unmonitored AI implementations that create security blind spots.

Organizations must prioritize visibility and governance in their AI environments to mitigate these risks effectively.

The Growing Market for AI Security

Motta emphasizes the market potential for AI security, estimating it at $70 billion, and the importance of keeping pace with the evolving threat landscape. “It’s really important that we adapt to modern infrastructure to make sure that we address these problems today,” Motta notes.

Motta emphasizes that education and proactive security measures are key to combating malicious AI-driven attacks. RAD Security leverages real-time behavioral analysis to detect anomalies in cloud environments. Its AI security platform integrates with existing security workflows, providing reachability analysis, automated response capabilities, and governance risk compliance (GRC) alignment.

One success story highlights how RAD Security reduced the time required for audit reporting from 30 days to just three minutes, demonstrating its ability to streamline compliance processes.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Growth

RAD Security is strengthening its AWS partnership, listing its solutions on AWS Marketplace and the EKS Marketplace. The company is also collaborating with cybersecurity resellers like Guidepoint, Optiv, and TForce to expand its market reach.

Looking ahead, RAD Security plans to double down on financial services, a sector increasingly vulnerable to AI-related threats.

Strengthening RAD Security’s industry presence is also a key focus. Motta highlights that she was recently recognized as one of the top 25 women for a Cyber25 Women of Impact List. The company has also participated in the AWS CrowdStrike accelerator program, having been accepted as a hot startup.

As AI-driven threats evolve, RAD Security is strengthening its position as a leader in securing AI workloads and cloud environments. By expanding into new industries and strengthening strategic partnerships, the company aims to address some of today’s most critical security challenges.
