Camunda Launches Agentic Orchestration to Seamlessly Integrate AI into Business Processes

0

Camunda has announced new agentic orchestration capabilities that enable organizations to model, deploy, and manage AI agents across end-to-end business processes. The release also includes several AI-powered features designed to enhance intelligent decision-making and process generation.

These updates aim to help enterprises operationalize AI at scale, addressing a major challenge identified in Camunda’s 2025 State of Process Orchestration and Automation Report, which found that while 84% of IT and business leaders plan to expand AI usage in the next three years, 85% struggle to do so effectively.

Camunda’s new capabilities provide a hybrid approach to process execution by combining deterministic (predefined) and non-deterministic (AI-driven) logic. This approach ensures compliance and standardization where needed, while allowing adaptability and real-time personalization through AI.

Key features introduced in the latest release include:

  • Ad-hoc Sub-processes: Empower AI agents to dynamically activate and manage tasks within a defined scope using BPMN ad-hoc sub-processes, offering flexibility in task order and execution.
  • Camunda Copilot: Generate BPMN diagrams from natural language or code, and enhance models with AI-generated documentation and suggestions through conversational interaction.
  • Camunda RPA: Orchestrate legacy systems without APIs and elevate isolated task automation into scalable, enterprise-wide processes.
  • Camunda IDP (Intelligent Document Processing): Use AI to convert non-machine-readable documents into structured data, enabling automation and smarter decision-making.
  • Camunda SAP Integration: Modernize ERP systems and introduce AI-driven orchestration across SAP environments, with availability through the SAP Store as part of the SAP PartnerEdge Build Partner program.

CTO Daniel Meyer emphasized the importance of integrating AI within a composable enterprise architecture: “To unlock AI’s full potential, organizations must move beyond isolated applications and operationalize AI within a holistic, composable enterprise architecture – one that seamlessly integrates AI with people, systems, and devices. Our new agentic process orchestration capabilities provide the control and transparency needed for compliance, while harnessing AI-driven decision making to enhance automation, optimize operations, and scale business processes efficiently.”
