“Intel put the silicon in Silicon Valley,” says Arun Gupta, Vice President and General Manager for Open Ecosystem at Intel, as he joins us to share his predictions for 2024. Gupta hopes that 2024 will see more transparency in AI, from the perspective of regulatory bodies, IP ownership and ethical considerations. He thinks that focus on openness and transparency is very essential for the widespread adoption of generative AI (GenAI).

His second prediction is around graduation of GenAI from experimental to production stage. According to the 2023 ML Insider survey, only 10% of organizations surveyed launched GenAI solutions to production in 2023. While large-scale Gen AI adoption is yet to take off, organizations that deployed GenAI models in the past year benefit from improved customer experiences, improved efficiency, enhanced product capabilities and cost savings.

There may be an explosion to make business information more easily accessible as we have seen great usage of RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) in the last few years since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022.

Gupta also predicted that AI is going to play a big role in improving cybersecurity and make it better.

There will be a significant refresh of PCs market as we will start to see AI PCs as compared to classical PCs that will take full advantage of CPUs, GPUs and NPUs allowing folks to do things that are not possible with the current breed of PCs.

After listening to Arun’s predictions, we may conclude that 2024 will be the year of AI.
