Google is launching AI Mode, a new feature that allows users to ask complex questions and receive detailed, personalized answers directly within the Search interface. Initially available to a small group of U.S. users, the feature is moving beyond Labs, with further rollout guided by user feedback.
Unlike traditional search results, AI Mode provides AI-generated responses based on Google’s search index, allowing users to ask complex or nuanced questions and receive comprehensive answers. It also differs from Google’s AI Overviews, which display summaries above traditional web links.
The new experience includes interactive visual cards for local businesses and products, displaying ratings, reviews, hours, prices, images, and real-time inventory. For example, users can find nearby vintage furniture shops with live busyness insights and one-tap directions or calls.
Millions of early testers have used AI Mode in Labs to explore topics more deeply and discover new content. Google says user feedback has shaped its development and will continue to drive updates as it expands access.
AI Mode remains available in Labs, and Google recommends using the Google app on Android or iOS for the best experience, including support for multimodal questions.
