HoundDog.ai has announced the general availability of its expanded privacy-by-design static code scanner, now purpose-built for AI applications. The release comes as enterprises grapple with rising concerns around sensitive data exposure in AI workflows, from large language model (LLM) prompts to risky data sinks like logs and temporary files.
The upgraded platform enables security and privacy teams to shift privacy left, embedding guardrails directly into the software development lifecycle. By detecting and blocking unsafe code before it reaches production, HoundDog.ai helps organizations prevent costly privacy violations while accelerating compliance efforts.
AI Privacy by Design at Scale
Since its stealth launch in May 2024, HoundDog.ai has been adopted by Fortune 1000 enterprises across finance, healthcare, and technology. The platform has scanned more than 20,000 code repositories, prevented hundreds of PHI and PII leaks, and saved customers millions of dollars in avoided remediation costs.
“Sensitive data is increasingly flowing through AI prompts, SDKs, and open-source frameworks without visibility or enforcement,” said Amjad Afanah, CEO and co-founder of HoundDog.ai. “We expanded our platform to give teams proactive control over privacy in AI applications—without slowing down innovation.”
What’s New for AI Privacy Enforcement
The updated HoundDog.ai scanner goes beyond traditional runtime AI security tools by offering code-level visibility and enforcement. Key new capabilities include:
- Automatic AI integration discovery across frameworks and SDKs, including shadow AI.
- Sensitive data flow tracing for over 150 data types—including PII, PHI, CHD, and tokens—across prompts, logs, and temporary files.
- Blocking unapproved data types in pull requests to enforce compliance with Data Processing Agreements.
- Audit-ready reporting with Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), aligned with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other frameworks.
Tools for Developers
Alongside the platform expansion, HoundDog.ai announced the general availability of its Cursor extension and free CLI scanner for Python and JavaScript/TypeScript projects, giving developers immediate access to privacy-first tooling.
