Jeli.io announced that it has integrated ChatGPT into its platform to help teams respond to incidents and gain insights from them. This AI beta access is now available to enterprise customers.

In this episode of TFiR: Newsroom, Jeli.io Founder and CEO Nora Jones shares how this new powerful version helps companies improve their incident response and analysis.

Rationale behind the integration:

  • Jeli believes there is a lot to be learned from incidents, including how the teams converse with each other during incidents, who to bring in, what to say, how long it takes us to do a particular thing, etc. Because of the volume of data to sift through, AI can summarize the conversations of how the incident unfolded. The responder or investigator can then unearth more information.
  • The new features go hand-in-hand with the Narrative Builder, which allows the user to create a story backwards from the incident. You pick a marker for detection, diagnosis, repair, and any key moments by dragging and dropping into particular markers. With AI, it allows you to do some of that automatically. You can then figure out where detection was happening, where diagnosis was happening, etc.
  • As companies scale and make decisions regarding their observability or cloud-native strategies, it is incredibly important to develop an incident response strategy, which involves both tech and the team culture.

Two areas ChatGPT-powered Jeli can help:

  • During incident response, companies can use it for long-winded incidents to help understand what’s going on. A feature coming out called Catch Me Up allows the user to see a summary of what’s happened so far without having to pull people for a debrief.
  • During post-incident analysis, there is a Summary feature meant to help  the investigator find out more information about what happened, instead of starting with a blank page or with a blank template.

On Generative AI:

  • It is not just hype or just a phase in technology. There is power in using AI to our advantage. It will help us save time so we can work on other things that require our human brains.
  • Everything that’s happening around AI right now is very different from what we’ve seen in the past. Jeli is using AI to summarize incident data and allow folks to learn and improve from that.
  • The role AI plays in building incident response strategies depends on the size of the team. Many companies are having incidents, but have very few engineers, time, and resources. AI can be leveraged at that point to help the team because they still need to have incident response and incident learning strategies.

The Jeli advantage:

  • There is a spectrum of maturity on incident response and incident analysis, depending on your business needs, how well your business is doing, what your customers expect, etc. Jeli meets you where they are today.
  • It is tech agnostic.
  • It is incredibly seamless to integrate.
  • You can play around with game-day incidents.
  • There is a Catch Up feature to figure out what’s going on in the incident.
  • This AI solution was specially designed to cater to the needs of the responder who has to sift through all the incident data.

What’s ahead for Jeli:

  • More incident patterns. The more the users share with Jeli how their folks interact and how the incidents are unfolding, the more it can tell you about areas to improve and areas to double-down on.
