LF Energy has announced the release of CitrineOS version 1.6.0, the latest update to the open source Charging Station Management System (CSMS). The new release introduces support for OCPP 1.6, significantly expanding compatibility with a wider range of electric vehicle (EV) chargers and reinforcing CitrineOS’s modular and extensible architecture.
Originally developed by S44 Energy and now hosted by LF Energy, CitrineOS was designed to align with OCPP 2.0.1 standards. With the addition of OCPP 1.6, the platform now offers seamless message handling across multiple OCPP protocols, improving flexibility and interoperability across the EV charging ecosystem.

The 1.6.0 update also introduces several major enhancements:
New Dynamic UI – A redesigned user interface offers detailed views of authorizations, transactions, charging stations, and locations, optimizing charger network management.
Technical Improvements – Enhancements include GraphQL integration for flexible data querying, refactored architecture to support multiple OCPP protocols, expanded file storage options including S3-compatible MinIO, and the removal of Directus CMS as a dependency to streamline performance.
