Mirantis Got Back Into Its Open Source Vibe at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon London

0

Mirantis arrived at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon London with a focus on its open source strategy rather than product launches. According to Shaun O’Meara, Mirantis CTO, their main announcement centers on k0s—their lightweight Kubernetes distribution—which has been accepted into the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Sandbox program.

“We’ve gotten back into our open source vibes again with the announcement of k0s being in the CNCF Sandbox,” O’Meara stated during an interview at the conference.

Beyond k0s, Mirantis is discussing two additional projects: k0rdent, a solution for managing Kubernetes at scale across multiple clusters released earlier this year, and a new AI-focused collaboration with Gcore. This partnership has produced what O’Meara described as a “full stack inference solution” built on Kubernetes to handle increasingly complex AI workloads.

The company reports strong engagement at the conference’s AI Day sessions, reflecting the growing intersection between cloud-native technologies and AI infrastructure—an area where Mirantis is positioning itself as organizations navigate these evolving technologies.
