OpenAI Plans Major Upgrade for ChatGPT as Personal “Super Assistant”

0

OpenAI intends to evolve ChatGPT into a powerful “AI super assistant” that understands users deeply and helps with both everyday and specialized tasks, according to a recently surfaced internal strategy document revealed during Google’s antitrust trial with the US Department of Justice.

According to a report by The Verge, the document, titled “ChatGPT: H1 2025 Strategy”, outlines OpenAI’s vision for ChatGPT as a smart, emotionally intelligent assistant capable of performing complex tasks across personal and professional domains — from sending emails and managing schedules to coding and legal help.

The upgrade will leverage advances in AI models (referred to as 02 and 03), multimodal interfaces, and agentic capabilities such as using a computer on the user’s behalf.

Although parts of the strategy are redacted, the document hints at OpenAI’s long-term goal: turning ChatGPT into not just a tool, but a digital companion, with potential hardware integration playing a key role. This aligns with recent comments from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who noted that many young users already treat ChatGPT like a “life advisor.”
