In response to Red Hat’s changes to the CentOS project, three major Linux vendors banded together to create the first-ever trade association called the Open Enterprise Linux Association (OpenELA), for the development of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)-compatible distributions like Rock Linux or Oracle Linux by providing open and free Enterprise Linux (EL) source code. It’s more than just being RHEL compatible. OpenELA is also about giving ISVs, vendors and customers more choices of using a mix of solutions from Red Hat and different vendors.
In this episode of TFiR: Newsroom, we hosted three esteemed guests from OpenELA: Wim Coekaerts, Head Of Oracle Linux, Alan Clark, a Member of the CTO Office of SUSE and Gregory Kurtzer, Founder of many open source projects such as CentOS, Rocky Linux and also the CEO of CIQ.
