Germany-based Boehringer Ingelheim has used Red Hat OpenShift to accelerate the development of its digital healthcare portfolio and enable the continuous delivery of new applications and services. With Red Hat OpenShift, Boehringer Ingelheim has increased productivity, streamlined compliance and achieved up to five times faster delivery to market of new services through automated scaling and management processes.
Running self hosted Red Hat OpenShift in its datacenters around the globe and Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated, a fully managed service of Red Hat OpenShift on Amazon Web Services, Boehringer Ingelheim’s developers can develop and deploy applications faster and in the environment of their choice.
They now focus resources on creating innovation for customers instead of operational tasks. Furthermore Boehringer Ingelheim uses OpenDevStack, an open source platform that provides standardized tools and applications to support rapid adoption of continuous delivery (CD) processes.
Red Hat OpenShift has given Boehringer Ingelheim the ability to automatically scale compute resources up and down, as, and when, required. The platform supports a range of automated management processes that have freed up developers and digital product teams to deliver new applications.
To date, Boehringer Ingelheim has released 11 digital products with many more in development. For example, Boehringer Ingelheim uses Red Hat OpenShift to run PetPro Connect powered by Pawru, its pet healthcare app that provides telemedicine, loyalty programs, and other features to hundreds of thousands of pet owners and more than a million pets.
