In this TFiR clip, Jesse McCrosky, Principal Architect – GenAI at Egen, pushes back against the notion that AI governance hinders innovation. In fact, he believes it fuels it—when approached with intention.
From Red Tape to Design Thinking
McCrosky likens responsible AI governance to good design thinking: it helps teams ask the right questions from the start. “You want to envision the world you want to create—and governance helps you get there,” he says.
Rather than treating governance as a compliance bottleneck, Jesse advocates for embedding it across the entire AI lifecycle—from design and experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
He supports sandbox environments for early-stage development, where teams can explore freely. But eventually, the same principles—accountability, transparency, and stakeholder input—must guide deployment.
Culture, Values, and Ethical Alignment
McCrosky also emphasizes that ethical AI design begins with defining your values—and staying accountable to them across global markets. Engaging diverse teams and impacted stakeholders, he says, is critical.
Transparency, in particular, stands out as a moral imperative: “Everyone deserves to be part of the conversation about the world AI is building.”
