By 2020, a great deal of global organizations should have a multicloud strategy in place. To help its customers innovate in their businesses, Red Hat has announced the next version of its OpenShift enterprise Kubernetes platform.

Red Hat OpenShift 4 promises to deliver a unified cloud experience for the hybrid world by driving automated updates across Kubernetes deployments everywhere, according to the company. Backed by Kubernetes Operators, the next version offers enhanced developer flexibility.

Red Hat OpenShift 4 is said to enable an automation-first approach with self-managing platform for hybrid cloud to provide a cloud-like experience via automatic software updates and lifecycle management across the hybrid cloud. This enables greater security, auditability, repeatability, ease of management and user experience.

It will be available in coming months across major public cloud vendors including Alibaba, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, private cloud technologies like OpenStack, virtualization platforms and bare-metal servers.

The new version also offers streamlined full stack installation with an automated process to make it easier to get started with enterprise Kubernetes quickly.

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is certified, conformant Kubernetes, as validated by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). To provide a more flexible deployment footprint, OpenShift 4 also introduces Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS, an OpenShift-specific embedded variant of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

From energy to hospitality to industrial, more than 1,000 customers are said to be using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

Red Hat OpenShift 4 will be available in June this year.
