SUSE has announced support for 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, formerly code named “Cascade Lake”. The support complements SUSE’s first enterprise Linux support for Intel Optane DC persistent memory.

With solutions running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Intel Optane DC persistent memory and 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, businesses could better address the challenges of massive data increases with greater speed and agility while incurring lower infrastructure and management costs.

“Intel’s persistent memory technology will spark new applications for data access and storage, with in-memory database solutions being just one application,” said Thomas Di Giacomo, SUSE president of Engineering, Product and Innovation.

SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 and SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4 include support for 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory.
