LF Energy, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, hosted The Open Sustainability Policy Summit in Washington DC this summer. The event brought together experts from around the globe to discuss the impact of climate change and what different stakeholders can do to combat it. In this episode of State of Energy, Boris Dolley, Director of OSPO and Sustainable IT at RTE, discussed the importance of open source adoption and collaboration in the energy sector.
Dolley emphasized the need for an open source program office (OSPO) to define strategy and make cultural changes, and the need for closer ties between policymakers and different stakeholders.

Dolley was impressed with the fact that the policymakers perfectly know what open source is, what the challenges of the energy transition are, and they already see what the advantages of open source could be. The message he is taking back to the players in the European energy space is that the United States is ready to jump in.
