Mirantis Secure Registry is a container image registry with Helm support. The role-based access control hooks into the enterprise authentication and authorization framework. It has full image scanning and promotion policies allowing security personnel to create a staging area for images which goes through a scanner as they are built. They then get promoted into a safe to deploy namespace and then all the images get deployed from there. There’s also a secure supply chain that makes it more difficult for an attacker to intercept the security of the supply chain. By having Helm support, Helm images and Helm charts are scanned for security issues there, where it’s possible to limit whether or not they are deployed. There is also the possibility to use notary to create signed images as part of the secure supply chain.

Chris Price, Director of Engineering at Mirantis, explains that Mirantis Secure Registry acts as a local image repository making the environment more secure for customers to build their code and container images. Customers can control who gets into their container images as they are not relying on an external repository.

Customers can use it whether it’s their test environment, pre-product integration or production environment. To find out more about what Mirantis Secure Registry can do, watch this video.
