After its foray into virtual-reality (VR) short films in the form of Cycles (2018), Walt Disney Animation Studios is all set to start work on another “top secret” VR short.
The project will be directed by Jeff Gipson – the director of Cycles, according to a report by CNET report.
Nicholas Russell, one of Cycles’ producers, said that the studio wants to explore VR. “The fact that they greenlit another one this quickly is proof that they might not know exactly what tomorrow looks like for Disney and VR, but we’re going to keep exploring,” the report quoted Russell as saying.
The project is free to use Disney’s existing characters in VR. Cycles is currently being displayed at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
