Perforce Software has announced the acquisition of Snowtrack, a move aimed at bridging the gap between technical and creative teams. The acquisition introduces P4 One, formerly Snowtrack, which provides an intuitive version control client tailored for artists and designers. By integrating version control into creative workflows, Perforce seeks to eliminate collaboration challenges and improve file and project management.

P4 One is now available in beta as part of the Perforce P4 Platform, the company’s newly unified version control and collaboration suite. The P4 Platform consolidates Perforce’s digital creation tools into a single ecosystem, offering seamless integration and enhanced functionality for studios and teams worldwide.

“Companies in game development, semiconductor, media and entertainment, and automotive rely on Perforce P4 as their collaboration backbone but often struggle with getting more artists and designers to adopt version control—a crucial step for maintaining a single source of truth across projects and departments,” said Brad Hart, Business Unit Vice President at Perforce. “P4 One is a critical piece of this vision, delivering a seamless and intuitive versioning experience while maintaining the performance and security studios expect from Perforce.”

As remote and distributed teams become more prevalent, security, speed, and accessibility are key concerns. P4 One enables local versioning at high speed and facilitates collaboration via P4 to synchronize changes across teams.

Currently in closed beta, P4 One is expected to launch globally later in 2025. Perforce will showcase P4 One at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) in March 2025, offering live demonstrations of its capabilities.
