Starburst has announced the appointment of Jitender Aswani as Senior Vice President of Engineering. In this role, Aswani will lead the global engineering team, spearhead innovation across the company’s modern data platform, and report directly to CEO and Co-Founder Justin Borgman.

Aswani brings over 20 years of experience in engineering leadership, with deep expertise in machine learning, cloud technologies, and data infrastructure. Prior to joining Starburst, he served as Vice President of Engineering at StarTree, where he led the strategy for real-time, distributed analytics platforms and also acted as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

His career also includes leadership roles at Moveworks, where he developed AI-powered enterprise solutions, and at Netflix and Meta, where he focused on data science, infrastructure, and security. At Meta, Aswani was an early user of Trino (formerly Presto), the core technology behind Starburst.

In addition to his extensive industry experience, Aswani holds multiple patents in machine learning, data management, and graph optimization, and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
