VMware has completed the acquisition of Heptio, an open Kubernetes ecosystem company.

At VMworld 2018 Europe held in the first week of November, VMware announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Heptio. Terms of the acquisition deal, however, were not disclosed.

VMware and Heptio’s teams will work together in “expanding contributions to harden and extend upstream Kubernetes as well as advance cloud native technologies alongside the community,” Paul Fazzone, senior vice president and general manager, Cloud Native Apps Business Unit, VMware said in a blog post.

“The team at Heptio has been focused on Kubernetes, creating products that make it easier to manage multiple clusters across multiple clouds,” Craig McLuckie, CEO and co-founder of Heptio earlier said. “And now we will be tapping into VMware’s cloud native resources and proven ability to execute, amplifying our impact.”
