Three major enterprise Linux players – Oracle, CIQ and SUSE – came together to create the Open Enterprise Linux Association (OpenELA) to address a problem which affected a diverse user base including developers, customers, and partners. Wim Coekaerts, EVP Software Development at Oracle, joins us to explain the reason behind OpenELA, “We wanted to ensure an alternative was available that was fully compatible with existing Enterprise Linux distributions.” In this interview, Coeakerts dives deeper into the idea behind the association and what problem it’s going to solve for the enterprise Linux ecosystem.
