Akamai Technologies has launched comprehensive API security enhancements featuring industry-first managed services and expanded monitoring capabilities, responding to the escalating threat landscape targeting application programming interfaces across industries. The latest offerings address critical security gaps that emerge between code development and production deployment, as API-related cyberattacks continue to surge globally.
Key Security Enhancements
The enhanced API Security platform introduces three major capabilities:
- Managed Service for API Security represents the industry’s first dedicated managed service for API protection, combining real-time threat monitoring with expert incident response and strategic guidance to help organizations detect and mitigate risks before they escalate.
- Code Repository Integration enables development teams to scan API specifications and source code for vulnerabilities during the development phase, identifying potential security issues before applications reach production environments.
- Compliance Dashboard provides centralized visibility into API security posture against critical industry standards including Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS v4.0), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the MITRE ATT&CK framework, streamlining audit processes and reducing compliance risks.
Industry Recognition
Akamai‘s security solutions recently earned three prestigious industry awards, including the Global InfoSec Award for 2025 from Cyber Defense Magazine, an AI Tech Award for AI Security & Privacy, and SecureIQ Leader recognition in the 2025 Cloud WAAP CyberRisk Validation Report, where Akamai achieved a 0% false positive rate across more than 1,360 diverse attack scenarios.
“Companies are realizing that APIs are a prime target for attackers and securing them is essential to staying resilient, especially in the AI era,” said Rupesh Chokshi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Akamai’s Application Security Portfolio. “It’s great to see the traction we’re getting in both adoption and recognition. It tells us we’re solving real problems for our customers.”
The enhanced platform aims to help organizations maintain security resilience while supporting digital transformation initiatives and API-driven innovation strategies.
