Now this is something which should make Microsoft in a good light with gamers. Microsoft will soon release a software development kit (SDK) that will let developers integrate Xbox Live into any titles that run across iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
Redmond’s move was revealed through a session at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC). Here’s what it mentioned: “Now Xbox Live is about to get MUCH bigger. Xbox Live is expanding from 400M gaming devices and a reach to over 68M active players to over 2B devices with the release of our new cross-platform XDK.”
It’s worth mentioning here that Xbox Live Achievements already features in some iOS and Android games. However, they are only enabled in titles from Microsoft Studios. Also the fact that not many of them available are right now is a bit disappointing for gamers.
The GDC listing further revealed that Microsoft also plans to leverage its PlayFab gaming services, which means “less work for game developers and more time to focus on making games fun.”
